Tune in live on Tuesday 13 February at 1800-2000 GMT on Facebook. A replay will also be made available via Facebook and, for non-Facebook users, via TheAidanProject.org and YouTube.

If you are keen to watch the event as it happens on Facebook Live, you can head to The Aidan Project on Facebook before the event and click ‘Get Reminder’ on the event page.

Have your comments and questions ready. This will be interesting…

#39 – Animal Liberation: Ethics and Speciesism

The name of this podcast was inspired by the influential 1975 book, Animal Liberation: A New Ethics for Our Treatment of Animals, by Peter Singer, an Australian philosopher. Singer argued that the interests of animals should be considered because of their ability to experience tangible suffering. Are we, as a society, guilty of speciesism? What is the reality of factory farming in the United Kingdom? How humane is the dairy industry? How does the UK compare to the rest of the world with respect to animal welfare? The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) state that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment or abuse in any other way. In this edition of the podcast, Aidan is joined by Sonul Badiani-Hamment, Campaigns Officer for PETA UK, to discuss the reality of factory farming and the dairy industry in Britain. Aidan explores the case for and against veganism in this thought-provoking podcast. For more information on PETA UK, visit http://www.peta.org.uk/. All Animals Are Equal

Which factory farming practices are the most appalling? How humane is the dairy industry? I am working on a new podcast to explore these questions, alongside a special guest. The episode will be recorded next month.

I have long suspected that future generations will shake their heads in disbelief at our ‘modern’ mistreatment of animals. The sooner we start performing the collective head-shaking, the better.

If you have a question regarding animal welfare that you would like to see addressed, please do get in touch.
